Ein richtiger Luxus an unserer Unterkunft auf Sansibar beim Haus von Said, dem Gastvater von Christopher, war der dazugehörige Bulli, den wir nach belieben benutzen durften um so flexibler zu sein.

Problem war nur: Der Bulli war ein 8sitzer, wir waren aber bis zu 14 Leute, von leider auch keiner einen internationalen Führerschein dabei hatte. Was wir hatten war ein Original Deutscher Führerschein von Basti und eine ausgeblichene Schwarz-Weiß Kopie von Lenny. Hätte uns die Polizei also angehalten, hätte es ganz schöne Probleme gegeben.

Denn klar, man hört ja immer wieder von korrupten Polizisten in Afrika, die gerade Weißen das Geld unter fadenscheinigen Begründungen förmlich pull from his pocket.

Ein Problem ist da eher ein ganz anderes, denn die Polizei hat ja auch in Tansania für Sicherheit im Straßenverkehr zu sorgen und der war bei einem so voll besetzten Auto mit Leuten im Fußraum und im Kofferraum nicht gewährleistet. Doch fehlende Sicherheit im Straßenverkehr ist meist (nicht immer!) traurige Realität im tansanischen Alltag. Nicht immer, aber einen Gurt findet man fast nie vor.

Unter diesen Voraussetzungen war es dann aber natürlich wiederum eine schöne Erfahrung, dass da bei Weißen nicht auf Strafe gepocht wurde sondern ebenso wie bei Tansaniern ein oder sogar beide Augen zugedrückt wurden. Obwohl es natürlich wünschenswert wäre, wenn gewissenhafte Kontrollen dazu führen würden, dass alle Menschen sicherer fahren.. Aber dazu fehlen hier oft einfach die Voraussetzungen, wie zum Beispiel Gurte in den Autos.


Vielleicht waren unsere Fahrten mit dem Bulli also nicht ganz überlegt, aber die Fahrer waren sich immer ihrer Verantwortung bewusst und fuhren bewusst defensiv.

Projekt Nummer eins gestartet

As you may know it does not participate here in Kyela my job at the Bank of Tujijenge, but building on existing structures to develop their own project.
Thus we now started a project last Thursday with a trial run. In this project we will hold in the villages near Kyela Solar presentations. Präsentation soll am Montag stattfinden und da immer noch nicht alles wirklich fertig vorbereitet ist, bin ich doch mal sehr gespannt ob unser Plan in erfüllung geht - immerhin haben wir daraufhin konkret seit Ende Dezember hingearbeitet.
Es mussten Kosten kalkuliert, ein entsprechender Projektgeldantrag an die DTP und Tarea gestellt, mit dem Techniker über Details gesprochen, Telefonate geführt, ein Flyer erstellt und überprüft und noch einiger anderer Kleinkram erledigt werden.
Jetzt sind die Vorbereitungen abgeschlossen und ich bin gespannt, was aus der Präsentation am Montag wird.

Nachdem Jonas und m
ir während den drei Wochen zusammen mit den anderen Freiwilligen aufgefallen ist, wie bescheiden wir doch hier in Kyela leben, haben wir uns dazu entschlossen, langsam etwas Luxus in unser Leben hier fließen zu lassen.
Luxus natürlich nicht wie in Deutschland, aber einige Dinge machen einem das Leben doch um einiges einfacher hier.
1) Kühlschrank nutzen: Seit Anfang Dezember haben wir jetzt einen Kühlschrank bei uns im Esszimmer stehen. Damit kann man natürlich viele tolle Dinge anstellen. Alleine bei den Temperaturen hier immer kühles Trinkwasser zu haben ist schon echt angenehm.
Doch nicht nur Wasser steht bei uns im Kühlschrank...
2) Frischer Saft. Saft zu kaufen ist irgendwie ziemlich teuer, denn es gibt ihn meist in einem der 3 kleinen Supermärkte hier in Kyela. But in Kyela is there somewhere, of course not, so I am dependent on something else to me from time to time but to enjoy a bit of chocolate or a biscuit can: My airlift.

Eine abenteuerliche Busfahrt.

If you want to travel longer distances in Tanzania you take the best coach. You get decent tickets, has a place for themselves, sometimes even get a soda donated and usually arrives at its destination with relative ease.
Mafinga On the journey from Dar es Salaam that was unfortunately not the case. From
Mafinga there is only a direct connection to Dar es Salaam, the Mafinga Express.

Eigentlich eine tansanische Spezialität und so wurde der Schaffner auch von anderen Leuten ausgelacht, hier hätte er es nicht mit Wazungu sondern mit Wabongo (Tansaniern) zu tun. Die anderen kamen aber nicht und so wurde unser Gepäck wieder aus dem Bus geschmissen und andere Fahrgäste durften einsteigen. Als die anderen dann doch kamen war es schon fast zu spät, aber es reichte noch, um die neuen Gäste wiederum hinaus zuschmeißen und um unsere angestammten Plätze einzunehmen.
Die Fahrt an sich verlief dann erst einmal recht ruhig, allerdings nur bis kurz hinter Mikumi, als sich die Autos vor uns plötzlich stauten und eine schwarze Rauchwolke auf der Straße vor uns auszumachen war. Ein Tanklaster war in den Straßengraben gefahren, beim Versuch wieder heraus zu kommen waren seine Reifen durchgedreht und hatten Feuer gefangen. Der Fahrer konnte sich noch retten aber für die nächsten 3 Stunden war die Straße unpassierbar geworden. Die Feuerwehr kam zwar durch, konnte aber gegen das brennende Benzin nicht viel anrichten.

Doch dank eines netten und hilfsbereiten Polizeibeamten kamen wir dann doch noch zu unserem Bus – der Polizist hielt einfach so lange die Busse an bis er einen fand, in dem noch Platz war und der in Richtung Dar es Salaam fuhr. Die letzten 2 Stunden saßen wir also in diesem Bus. Warte, nur 2 Stunden? Naja, 2 Stunden Fahrt und nochmal 3 Stunden Stau, diesmal ganz ohne Unfall einfach only the usual rush hour traffic in Dar es Salaam. Finally we came

The day itself started very poorly to as Christopher had been up all night - not because of the anticipation of the presents but because of malaria. So needed after a somewhat hectic Christmas breakfast with bread and honey Raphael and drive it first with the motorcycle to the hospital in Iringa. We

Sogar Raphael und Christopher kamen noch pünktlich zum Beginn und auch während des Gottesdienstes, in dem deutsche Weihnachtslieder mit Texten auf Kiswahili gesungen wurden, kamen noch ständig Gäste herein.
Nach dem Gottesdienst gab es dann erst das Weihnachtspilau, dann die Geschenke (Wir haben uns allen gegenseitig im Wichtelprinzip was geschenkt) und abschließend gab es einen gemütlichen Abend zu Kaminfeuer,Gesang, Kerzenschein, Weihnachtsoratorium und tollen Gesprächen.

In Mafinga habe ich wunderbare Weihnachten mit Kälte, Weihnachtbaum, Geschenken, Kaminfeuer und tollem Essen erlebt. Die Fahrt nach Dar es Salaam war abendteuerlich mit Tanklasterexplosion und Stau gespickt, die ersten Tage auf Sansibar von Durchfall gekennzeichnet, auf Sansibar habe ich tolle Strände, nette Leute, viele Wazungu, leckeres Essen, komische nette Polizisten und tolle Momente erlebt. An Sylvester gabs eine große Party mit viel Musik und Tanz.
Das muss fürs erste reichen, Morgen gehts auf meine Zwischenseminar nach Bagamoyo und am 11.1. bin ich aller voraussicht nach zurück in Kyela.
